Introducing
the Pro-AM Line:
This will be a yearly release that will differ
every year. Release dates will be scheduled
for late summer. The concept of this line is
to take a home brewer’s recipe and scale
it up to brew it on our system.
Note: For home brewers
who will be interested in entering their recipes
we are looking at holding the contest in April
to allow us enough time to gear up for a summer
release.
Pro-Am 2010:
(Smoked Porter)
This year’s winner was Ed Condon of Spring,
TX.
The Smoked porter is black in color, and has
a pronounced smoky nose with accents of chocolate
and roast malt. The mouth-feel is full with
more smoky flavors giving way to chocolate and
caramel. The maltiness of this beer is nicely
balanced by using a moderate amount of Pacific
Northwest hops.
Production began in July and hopefully will
be available(kegs only I am afraid) sometime
in mid to late August.
Congrats Ed!
Pro-Am 2009:
(Saison Style) DISCONTINUED!
The winners of our “Best of Show”
competition brewed the inaugural beer of this
series on July 21st: Mark Kizer and Scott Wells
of Austin. This beer is a hefty Saison
style Ale that was brewed with a blend
of spices, as well as the traditional beer ingredients.
Weighing in at 7.2% ABV, the Saison has a rich,
spicy bouquet and flavor profile, well balanced
by just enough malt and mouthfeel.
Our Beers
Southern Star Brewing
Co. plans on offering a variety of beers to
hopefully satisfy a range of customer tastes.
Are three major beers; Pine Belt Pale,
Bombshell Blonde and Buried
Hatchet Stout are found in cans and
kegs. While our Pro-AM competition
winners are only being kegged at this time.
